The TB Innovation Sandbox is a future-oriented, virtual “playground” to accelerate the concrete and practical roll-out of TB Innovations. The InnoScan, the first component of the TB Innovation Sandbox, which is an AI-powered, interactive database that makes it easier and faster to find, learn, and facilitate the accelerated and optimal roll-out of product innovations across TB, lung health, airborne infectious diseases, and PPPR. The database addresses a persistent cross-cutting challenge in global health - the disconnect between rapidly growing innovation pipelines and the ability of countries and funders to identify solutions that are implementation-ready and aligned with priority needs.

One of the key features of InnoScan, is “Sandi,” an AI-enabled conversational assistant. Sandi is a powerful, user-friendly chat agent informed by the InnoScan and other STBP validated information, to help users conveniently find information on innovations. Users can use Sandi (or filters) to search innovations by categories such as:

  • Product Categories (i.e., Diagnostic devices and tests, AI-enabled screening and diagnosis, etc.);

  • Country of origin (i.e., Republic of Korea);

  • Care journey step (i.e., Prevention & Screening, Diagnosis, etc.); and

  • Development stage (i.e., R&D, real-world evaluation, etc.).

The InnoScan has a clear governance framework, defining eligibility criteria, review processes, and update cycles. This framework ensures that all innovations are assessed using consistent and transparent standards, strengthening credibility while remaining operationally light. The process combines human review with AI-assisted scanning, allowing the InnoScan to scale without creating a resource-intensive system or reliance on external consultants.
